Rt-ac68 with a bad wan port

Pierino

I just bought a used rt-ac68r that turned out to have a non functioning wan port.
I've installed dd-wrt on it and assigned one of the lan ports to be the wan port.
Since I only have one hard wired pc to it, I don't need all 4 lan ports.

I was curious if there is a way to do this with RMerlin firmware? If there isn't is it something that could be added in the future?

I guess I'm hoping Eric can answer that. Tia.

If you enable Asuswrt's Dual WAN, you can configure a LAN port as a WAN port. That's the only supported way to do so, and I have no plan on changing that.

Make sure to set dualwan mode to failover, as you will only be using one of the two WAN interfaces.

Ok, I've never had to use dual wan, so I'm not familiar with it but I will take a look. Flashing it back to your build now.

Works perfectly. Now I've got a backup rt-ac68 for $30. Not bad.
Thanks Eric.

Well, it worked for one day. No response on serial console. She is dead.
