RT-AC86U - Can't reach Facebook

I set up AC86U, it all went pretty smooth but somewhere along the way I am not able to get the facebook from 2 computers. They were all working fine and something changed. I went through and looked at all the settings. I dont seem to have any restrictions to prevent that. I can ping facebook.com just fine. Whats weird is it comes up on iphones and 2 other computers.. When I turn on firewall log "dropped packets" I can see packets to facebook.com are being dropped.. Any thoughts???

Thanks

Is this an AC68U or AC86U?

Is this a new router? Or an existing router that has been working ok?

Is the router running the current released firmware?

Did you reset the firmware to factory defaults before configuring it?

Are the two troubled computers using WiFi? Did you try forgetting and recreating their WiFI connection? Have you cycled power on these computers?

Its an 86.. Admin must have changed the title... It is new. I have the latest Merlin FW on it... It seemed to be running fine.. Not that not getting to FB is a big deal it just seemed odd that it was getting there and then stopped. I was not making changes on the wired machines.
I have recycled all the hardware a couple times...
When I rebooted the hardware it seemed to work for a min. And then now its not accessible.
I have pretty much all the features turned off on the AC86.
I can certainly restore to default it just takes a lot of time going back through my set up.

Thanks

If you can surf internet fine for other sites it sounds like a fb issue. Did you enable some sort of site blocking, parental blocking, etc.

I can get to it from other devices.. It shut down all the basic security, AI protection, QOS, etc... I think I fixed it kind of.. I use Googles DNS. When I get more time I will go back through the settings and see what happens.

Thanks

@dave1024, when you set up the new router, did you do a full reset on it (including checking the 'Initialize all settings...' check box) when it was finally at the firmware level you wanted? Did you format the JFFS partition too? Did you set it up manually and minimally without 'blindly' using old settings that may have once worked on a previous router and without using a saved config file?

For myself, if Asus offered a router that blocked Facebook completely, along with all other (anti) 'social' sites, they would have my money. :)

No, I did not do a full reset... It was basically new out of the box. I had it set up and was working at that point. I installed the latest version Merlin beta. Not sure at what point FB stopped being accessible. I was making changes, looking at other features messing around with turning IPV6 etc..
My plan is to start fresh now that I got a little better understanding. I am going to rest the Netgear C6000 and do a reset on the AC86U... Start over and go from there..
Now if only I had time at the moment to take it all down and start over. Not having access to FB is not the end of the world its just odd that it became unreachable.
The odd thing about the whole deal is that I can access FB on my work machine at home. I have been RDP-ing into my personal machines through work machine for a couple years which would lead one to believe its the computers. But I did not add or change a thing on those machines, they have been stable.

I did not do anything with JFFS. I need to look into that some more.
Thanks

I did not turn any of the parental stuff on. I tried to go back and turn off any bell or whistle I could find. Tried to keep it as basic as possible for the sake of getting FB to load.

Thanks

@dave1024, you're making progress it seems. Keep at it and this stuff will become second nature to you too. :)

The suggestions in the link below should get your new router to perform at its best while also being stable and reliable.

New M&M 2020

If you find that the router is still showing wonkiness, the link below may help rule out (or confirm) a hardware issue too.

Fully Reset Router and Network

Thats good stuff to know.. I am going to go back and use the Netgearc6900.. Make sure I access FB just as a test.. Then factory reset, switch the mode and reconnect to the fresh factory reset 86 and then go from there.

Thanks again!
