I currently have an AC66U which has been rock solid! I a was curious if anyone knows the pros and cons of each of these new routers? I understand the 87U is a Wave 2 chip while the Broadcom XStream is a Wave 1 chipset. Should I wait on the 3200, or go for the 87U? Thank you so much everyone.

i think you should wait, because the 87 very buggy right now but eventually i think you should get the rt-ac87. i think the 87 got overlook because broadcom advertised their chip is penta-core and 2.9 ghz and the 87 just advertise 1 ghz dual core with quantenna(500mhz) chip but if you sum it up like the way the ac3200 then the 87 should come out 2.5 ghz. i mean having two 5ghz band is cool but i don't see it will benefit that much.

Its the same dual core 1 ghz for the penta core. They are just adding up all the radios cpu's with it to get that. Both have the exact same broadcom cpu. The 5ghz radios are were its different.

i think you got this wrong the dual core on 87 is same as r7000, but the new pent-core is a modified of that version by added 300mhz for each band in order for them to buy time to impliment the wave2 protocol or something.

Link below. They both have the Broadcom 4709A which is a dual core 1Ghz. The R7000 has a Broadcom 4709A also. Using Broadcom penta core logic we have a have a 3 core 2.5Ghz cpu. I have an R7000 and just returned a R8000.
