RT-AC8800U or RT-AC86U as main router

Hi,

I need some input on what router is best as my main router. I have an old router AC8800 and a new AC86U.
I need to use AIMESH to cover my home, since th AC8800 is not good enough.

CableModem (bridge mode)->Router->LAN/WIFI

Which router would you use as the main router and which for the node?

RT-AC8800U? I have never heard of this router, and it is not even found on Google. So I guess you mean RT-AC88U?

RT-AC86U is better than RT-AC88U because of its 1.8GHz CPU with Cortex-A53. better VPN throughput. but if you need link aggregation you may still need to use 88U.
