RT-AC88U - Connected USB drive slow to copy

Hi,

I'm experiencing slow copying of files from the USB drive connected to the USB 3.0 port on the AC88U. THe external drive is a spindle and only USB 2.0

My laptop is connected Wirelessly on the 5GHz band

Copying to the device I'll get 16MB/s or around that.
Copy from the device I'll only get 200-500 KB/s and often error.

Downloading over the internet I get vMax speeds of 11MB/s

I'm open to any thoughts/advice.
