RT-AC88U successor soon?

It seems that the RT-AC88U has reliability issues, and its also been on the market for 1.5 years. Anyone heard of an upgraded model coming soon or perhaps and upgraded chipset/fast processor/RAM for the RC-AC88U?

The RT-AC86U would be the direct successor to the RT-AC88U. It's currently only available in China.

However, I'm fairly sure that the issue with recent RT-AC88U production can be sorted out. I have one of the original RT-AC88U as my main router at home, and it's rock stable. So if there's an issue either with the wireless driver for the new BCM4366 revision or if there's a manufacturing issue, it will eventually be addressed by Asus.

I wondered about that, and even though it has four antennas (albeit with one internal), it would seem strange for an "86" to be a successor to an "88". Anyhow, if the 88 can be sorted, I suppose that would be ok. Do you know if there have been any processor speed bumps on the 88 like what's been done for the 68 over the last few years?

No, the RT-AC88U still has the same 1.4 GHz BCM4709C0. There's no faster version of that CPU, you need to jump to a completely new architecture for that - which is what the RT-AC86U did.

AC86U has BCM4366E, right? Does AC86U support link aggression as AC88U?
