RT-AX68U as wireless media bridge, 5 GHz.

I have an RT-AX86U that I am using as my main router. I also have an RT-AC68P, with merlin firmware installed. I am using the latter as a wireless media bridge. This mostly works, but I cannot get the two devices to talk to each other on a 5 GHz channel.

Before I pay up for a second RT-AX86U, here is the obvious question. If I install merlin on both devices, and configure one of them as a wireless media bridge, will the two devices communicate on a 5 GHz channel?

For the answer to your question, yes.

For a more in-depth answer; they should be working like that now too.

Check your settings on the RT-AX86U and see if anything (i.e. 'AX' stuff) is interfering with the Media Bridge seeing the SSID on the 5GHz band.
