New Around Here
I have just upgraded to 388.1 and it looked amazing. However, when I logged out of the router I lost all access to it when attempting to log back in. I've tried factory reset, as described in the official Asus page after a new firmware update. Also, I do have a security certificate issued under DDNS, but I am unsure if this is the case.

router.asus.com - only works after factory reset

(myddnspage).asuscomm.com:8443 - does not load

192.168.xx.x - does not load

*** I am just gonna roll back the previous Firmware and hope for the best outcome now.

I've been occasionally facing the same issue (RT-AX86U running 388.1). Page requests from the GUI just stop being serviced. Absolutely nothing in the log. A "service restart_httpd" clears the issue immediately. Happened 4-5 times now since the last firmware load.

Asuswrt-Merlin 388.1 release thread is still open:

Make sure the issue is not caused by some of the scripts you are running on top of 388.1 firmware.

While I run a handful of scripts, each one writes a "this script was run" message to the log every time it runs. In the last few instances, I've been logged on to the GUI and did nothing more than request the display of a new page. Zero in the log between the last successful page display and the failed one.

This is not a clean setup anymore when other developers are involved. Your issue may be completely unrelated to the firmware release. You don't even tell what scripts you are running. In this case no one can help you and your only option is to diagnose the issue yourself.

Happy to do my own diagnostics. Sorry to trouble you.

No trouble here, but no way to help either with no information. When I tested 388.1 on AX86U there was no httpd issue on clean firmware.

Thank you all for the replies. I did post on another thread and they explained to me that its my backup file causes the issue to surface. Thus, another member explained to me that another configuration file should me made from scratch, after that I have experienced no issues. However, this procedure defeats the purpose of uploading or even backing your settings - thank you anyways.

"service restart_httpd" - how can I try this?

This is done via logging in to the router via SSH. You'll need to go to the Administration/System page of the GUI and enable it. Also enter a port number two lines below (I use 51111) and select "allow password login" = Yes. Apply the changes. Once that's done, load a shareware SSH client (like puTTY) on your PC and configure it to access your router (192.168.xx.1, port). Log in with your router admin userID and PW. You'll get a command line. "service" is a command that can be used to start/stop/restart various router services. Once logged on via SSH, "exit" terminates your session.

I also saw another thread noting that a corruption in NVRAM values stored in the /jffs partition may cause the issue. I'll investigate that next time I see it happen and reformat/reload if necessary.
