Hi all am new to this forum, and also ASUS.
I have asked on another thread, but have had no direct answer to what I need.
So, I am really sorry if this has been asked before.
Right, here goes.

I am looking to buy the RT-AX86U.
I’m just looking to do a few things with it.

1. I would like the WIFI 6 as have a few devices now, MacBook Pro, iPhone 12 and my sons PS5.
My son plays Fortnite, Fifa etc online and never has issues with connection.
So as long as my internet connection is fine, I don’t really intend to use for gaming solely.

2. However, what I would like, is to set up NordVPN, but only for a couple of streaming boxes to connect to. The rest of my devices in the house, I am happy to connect direct to the isp.
Now, I read about policy routing and vpnfusion, which has confused me a bit.

What I would like to know, is if I set up through openVPN, can I direct, the couple of streaming to the vpn and rest of devices direct to the isp?
Is this something that can be done in the stock firmware or merlins?
I’ve also read about the AC86U, but would really like WIFI 6.

I’m purely using this router, for better WiFi in general, and also the capability to run streaming devices to run through VPN and the rest direct to ISP.

Any help would be so much appreciated.

Yes certainly possible, I have done something similar using the Merlin firmware

1. Give your TV/streaming devices static IP addresses
2. Set up your VPN connection in the Asus
3. Under the Advanced Settings you will see a drop down "Force Internet traffic through tunnel" select "policy rules"
4. Add the rules for devices you want to route thru the VPN/WAN
