RT-AX86U PRO 3006 102.4 0 Upgrade Issues

Ran the upgrade on 3004 388.8 4. It says that it processed the upgrade, but after restart and even killing power it still shows the old version.

Tried installing one of the betas first, same result.

Cannot get the new version to load for some reason.

Anything I'm missing?

How are you flashing the firmware?
Using the Asus app or using the router GUI?
If you had a USB drive attached to the router, did you remove it before trying to flash the firmware?
Have you tried using a different web browser?
Did you disable any browser addons or extensions?
Have you tried using a different computer?
Have you disabled any security software on the computer/device you are using to flash the firmware?
Did you try on a computer connected directly to the router by Ethernet cable?
Did you try performing a reset of the router first, then after doing a basic router setup, try to flash the firmware?
Did you clear your browser's cache after the firmware flash to force it to load a new router GUI page?

No issues flashing to 3006.102.4 on my RT-AX86U Pro. I did perform a hard factory reset however after flashing to 3006.102.4 followed by a manual configuration (no saved router.cfg file import).

Thanks for the fast reply. I have been doing this for years but it was the first time I had a USB device plugged in. Removed it and the upgrade worked fine. Now to fix the things this upgrade broke ;)

nothing is broke you just need to reset and configure things manualy not fro a saved config file a saved config file will give you the same broke things you have now

Gotcha. I knew about the guest network things, but I always walk throuh the screens after an upgrade to make sure everything looks good.

That only catches gross incompatibilities. Start from 0 and do by hand. Then you know it is clean.
In my experience with multiple Asus routers running Merlin, factory resets have been unnecessary—even after years of firmware updates. Each mesh node has served as the main router at some point, and I’ve never had stability or performance issues that required a reset before or after an upgrade.
