RT-AX86U PRO and Imesh

Hello,
I want to buy a RT-AX86U PRO and upload merlin firmware on it.
I can't find if Imesh also will working with this router and Merlin. I want to use this one as the main router.
I only found that merlin an imesh only work as node?
Does someone know if this will work?

Imesh AiMesh

AiMesh will work with Merlin's firmware as the main router. You will also need another Asus router to operate as an AiMesh node.

What are the model names for the 3 AiMesh routers you are currently using?

Generally most here recommend running stock Asus firmware on AiMesh node routers since most if not all the Asus-Merlin specific features are disabled when a Asus router is put into AiMesh node mode. The main router can run Asus-Merlin firmware. Note that if the main router is using newer firmware than the AiMesh nodes there may potentially be some compatibility issues, or some features from 3006.102.x firmware may not be fully supported on the AiMesh nodes running 3004.x firmware.

The Aimesh routers are 2x RT-AC86U and a XD4 with asus stock firmware
The most important thing on the nodes is the Wifi.

Using the AC86U as an AiMesh node with an AX86U Pro router will limit the 5 GHz bandwidth to 80 MHz and may restrict the 5 GHz to non DFS channels. You will also be limited as to what features of the Guest Pro network will extend to the AC86U's. This applies to using Asus or Merlin firmware on the AX86U Pro.

Most important thing is that it will work as it is working now for Wifi. The AC86U's will be replaced some day. Upgrading all at the sametime cost a lot of money

I now have the RT-AX86U but Aimesh doesn't work.
I have the newest merlin firmware. If a click ADD at the Aimesh page there is a popup, but it stays empty

Reset the nodes. Best to set up older nodes with an Ethernet connection. Also, did you factory reset the router after installing Merlin then manually configure it?
