Hello,
For several years I am using an RT-AX88U router with Merlin software. Wireguard speeds are around 180 Mb/sec and OpenVPN UDP speeds are around 150 Mb/s. My connection is 200/60 (DSL). Within a few months we will have fiber which allow for much higher speeds.
Since this model is 5+ years old (still works perfectly), I am orienting if the newer Asus router models offer significantly higher OpenUDP speeds. I was looking for the RT-AX88U Pro router, but the CPU is only a bit faster (2.0 Ghz instead of 1.8 Ghz).
However.. maybe the Linux version the router is running on is newer and permits OpenVPN to run on multiple cores per VPN connection.. My current router only uses 1 CPU core per VPN connection (older OS).
Does anyone have speedtest results for the RT-AX88U Pro with an OpenVPN (UDP) connection? Or maybe there is have another Asus router (with Merlin support) that performs much better?
