I upgraded from the most recent 9.x beta firmware using the Asus iOS app. It's been interesting.
Background: I'm using the AX89X in AP mode as the primary AIMesh unit for two additional wired nodes: an AX86U and an AX88U. My router is an OPNsense box. I have a good 80 wireless clients.
Since the FW update, the secondary nodes have been intermittently connecting and reconnecting, not always at the same time. The AX89X's GUI took forever to come online and even now, 15 minutes later, is mostly unresponsive and loading interface elements at a glacial pace. Most of my Wi-Fi devices appear to have reconnected, but they seem to be preferring the 2.4GHz band (even those that are 5GHz capable).
I'm waiting to see if things stabilize and will likely carry out a full system reboot from the GUI regardless. But I'm logging my experience here just so others can compare notes.
24-HOUR UPDATE: I rebooted (i.e., a manual reboot after the post-update auto reboot) after about an hour of watching the erratic behavior mentioned above. Things normalized after that.
However, the AIMesh system has overridden several of my manual prebinds (indicated by the orange dot in the GUI), even though the prebound devices are only about 5-10 feet from the nodes they should be bound to. The AIMesh system is also severely unbalanced: One node only has two (out of 80+) clients. Will keep monitoring.
