RT-BE92 InterVlan??

Occasional Visitor
Hi, just got this new toy in and went straight to flashing Merlin.

Now trying to set something up which I don't even know is possible for this device so hoping someone can chime in.
I've set up 2 guest networks alongside my main network (VLANs 51 and 52).
VLAN 51 has my Home Assistant server. VLAN 52 has a couple of Broadlink Wifi IR blasters.
I've setup VLAN 52 to "access Intranet" of VLAN 51 and (automatically) vice versa.

When trying to add the Broadlink devices to my Home Assistant, I can not add the devices. This is not an issue when they're all on the Main network, haven't tried it yet when they're on the same VLAN but one would think that that would work as well.

So am I completely misunderstanding the "access intranet" feature on the RT-BE92?
Coming from an ancient RT-AC5300, the way Asus has implemented these new guest networks is quite foreign to me. I hadn't expected the RT-BE92 to do interVLAN but when I saw that option to give "intranet access" to another VLAN I got my hopes up. Guess I was wrong??

Many Thx for anyone who can shed light on this.

It was my understanding that "intranet" is access to the main network, but not among VLANs.
Thx for the reply @jzchen but If that's the case then why is there the option of which Vlan you want to give access to?
Each Vlan you've set up is selectable via a tick box. That's what gave me the impression it was interVlan capable and not just to the main network.

I'll post a screenshot of what I mean to better explain myself once I get home.

yeah i've had this issue too. curious how it seperates itself with LAN based devices as well.
its not intuitive how it seperates all the networks.

This to my mind would mean that Vlan 52 would be allowed to access Vlan 51, no??
(And no, I'm not running a botnet, that's just the guest Vlan for my robot vacuums :D)

Thank you for correcting me as I did not know about this, (and sorry for the misinformation)! I haven't had good luck with IoT/Guest networks in the past and haven't tried creating one in a long long time...

No worries at all, can't be up2date on everything.

It's just surprising to me that with the experts here nobody has been able to shed any light on this so far. Maybe I'm just completely misinterpreting what this is supposed to do and I've asked a stupid question?
Which I would be very OK with if that gets pointed out to me

Or maybe nobody has used this feature for this purpose and people simply don't know?
I'm assuming this isn't just limited to the BE92 though so you'd think more people would've played around with this.

Anyway still happy to get any pointers from someone with the necessary experience or knowledge on this so I'll keep lurking around 😄
