[RT-N66R] Applying Settings Hangs

For educational purposes I was attempting to setup a HDD on the USB port and interact with it from the internet which I succeeded in doing. However, while attempting to add other users to be able to do the same under USB Application>Network Place (Samba) Share Cloud/Disk, the "Applying Settings" screen hangs and I also never get the "Save Permission" button to un-grey (if you will). I can add new accounts but cannot set any permissions (doesn't show).
At the bottom of the screen, "Waiting for 192.168.1.1" and "Looking Up 192.168.1.1" keeps flashing back and forth.
I'm running 3.0.0.4.378.9313 firmware. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance:)

Hi,

As you show the IP address: Do you really use the IP address in the browser as URL? There was/is a problem with the latest 378 firmware when you do not typing the IP address but you use host-name.

With kind regards

Thanks for responding Joe. I don't follow however. To get into the GUI interface of the router I have to enter 192.168.1.1 in the browser as I understand all Asus RT-N66R users have to. Once in, I'm trying to setup users in the "USB Application>Network Place (Samba) Share Cloud/Disk" section. I can add a user but no permissions (greyed out). When I press "Apply" the screen goes to the busy circle "Applying Settings" and hangs. As it is hanging, the bottom of the screen flashes "Waiting for 192.168.1.1..." and periodically "Looking for 192.168.1.1...". I assume the GUI is trying to communicate with the router and failing. Hope I'm stating the problem correctly. By the way, when I close the browser window and re-enter the router GUI, the new user IS added. I was hoping to find a possible solution (if any) before resetting the router to defaults and having to start all over with setting it up. I'm somewhat of a router newbie and am not sure I remember how to set all of the settings. It might be a hassle for me :(.
