RT-N66U and speed issues at bridge point - Help Needed

I posted this in general wireless questions, but since it involves an ASUS RT-N66U, if anyone in this forum has experience with bridging it and can help, the problem is detailed here:

I've failed to bridge a 5Ghz signal with any good thruput... I need help.

Have you looked at the wireless speeds in the review posted here:

That should help to set your expectations of the throughput that you can look for.
 
I guess I've overestimated the 5Ghz N. Some of teh 40Mhz tests still averaged ~190 Mbps, which is still twice what I'm getting.

Oh well... the TEW bricked anyway, so I guess I'll just go wired so that I can at least get usage from the Gigabit ports on the new router.
