I am due to get a Fritzbox 6340 modem/router from my cable provider, here in Germany, to replace my old Arris Modem to which I have the Asus RTN66U connected for WLAN. I have read that the wireless does not travel far or strongly under the Fritzbox router, so I would like to continue to use the Asus for the wireless Signal.
Up to now, I just set the Asus in AP mode, connected the modem cable to the Wan on the ASUS, and operated the Internet connections via the Shibby-Tomato Firmware Interface flashed on the Asus.
I am trying to work out how best to make the new connections.
1. Does anyone have experience of connecting these two pieces of Hardware and can give me some advice on settings and cable connections?
2. I like some of what I see on the Fritzbox Firmware interface. Is there any way to operate the Asus wireless through the Fritzbox Firmware Interface?

Thanks for any suggestions.
