RT68U flashing to asuswrt and back if necessary

Hi,

I have not been able to find an answer to some Qs,

Principally,

a) if I "flash" from my present Asus supplied firmware to asuswrt and something goes wrong is there a way to revert it?
b) Is there any real significant risk (and how big a) I could brick it and need a new router?
