Severe Ping Deviation issue

I have a sever issue with a server. It's been going on the past month or so. I'm not sure why, what, or where it comes from. But the avg ping is 55-60. I get HUGE ping deviations of 70+ randomly, and it is continuing. What where why how????

What server is it and what kind of sever is it? What tool are you using to see these ping times?

Perhaps trace routes would show some useful information.

It's a game server located in Atlanta. The game has a netstats option that brings up fps, ping, Std Deviation, and Max Deviation. I don't know the actual address. Don't know how to do a trace route either.
