I've got a Zyxel GS1100-24 unmanaged 24 port Gb switch. It has the option for 2 extra ports that can use 1G copper SFP modules. I could use the two ports to delay bringing another 24 port Gb switch online (can't believe how inexpensive they've become).
Yes the switch is "rated" for 26 active ports (52Gbs)
Zyxel will only tell me that their SFP-1000T is compatible. I don't want to spend the money people want for this SFP module. I'm finding some claiming compatibility like this OptCore (chinese) that will end up being $16-17 per but ....
I'm told there's no performance benefit with this switch by using the two extra ports with a 1Gb copper SFP (other than gaining two ports). I still could use the two extra ports provided cost per port is low enough.
Anyone have any experience with this switch relative to SFP compatibility and performance?
