Share internet/LAN - 400m

Hi,

My brother lives 400 meters from me. There are around 3 trees and a building in between my house and his flat.

What equipment would be the best to use to connect us wirelessly to share internet/files with him?

Is a high gain directional grid antenna the best? A sector antenna, or maybe even a dual polarised antenna? I also assume 2.4ghz is a lot better when you have obstacles to get through?

The trees - you might be able to cope with.
The building - not.
If you can't the antennas high enough to get near line of sight, it probably isn't going to work.
