Should I attach this Seagate Expansion drive to a router?

First of, I don't know if this is the best sub forum for this but I couldn't figure better.

I have an ASUS RT-AC56U and a 2T Seagate Expansion http://www.seagate.com/gb/en/consumer/backup/expansion-hard-drive/ which I want to connect to it's USB.
This may be a silly question but is OK for such a drive to function 24/7 (cough...most likely upload much of this time...cough)?
I'm asking this since is a drive that requires external power so from this point of view I'm thinking it may have extra parts that may fail in such scenario then the disk itself.
Thanks,
Luke

Should be ok - do be advised that very large disk volumes can run into issues with some Router/AP's due to small memory available.
