Can anyone remind me what ntpMerlin does and also, is there a list of amtm scripts with brief explanations of what they do?

Ntp is time sync.

Go to the addons forum and use the "Filters" to select only posts with the relevant prefix (e.g. ntpMerlin), then you can easily find the main post for the addon you're interested in. e.g.
