Merlin,

My AIOS media server is a lot like the kernel, etc., as the N66 router.

I shared the smb.conf thing with the person who is the main programmer for the firmware on it. He took a look and the sendfile parameter was set to use for Samba. We're playing now to see if setting it to "no" improves its file transfer speed.

Wanted to let you know this is how we are setting it so it survives booting.

Edit these two files in this location.

/usr/local/etc/linked/samba/conf/smb_anonymous_head.conf
/usr/local/etc/linked/samba/conf/smb_user_head.conf

I can't FTP into, separate post, the Asus currently so I have no idea if these same files and directory exist. If so I wanted to share it with you.

I guess if so I could telnet and use vi.....

What you describe is totally custom and specific to the device you are talking about.

The correct way of using a custom config in Asuswrt-Merlin is through the documented user configs. smb.conf is one of the files that can be customized.
