Speed difference

New Around Here
Hi all, complete newbie here. I bought the AX6600 (XT8) mesh (router and node) because my exterior security cameras were not picking up my router well enough. My front camera has lost signal a couple of times recently so I went to check the mesh to see if all was well. First probelm is that I cant access the app to manage my existing router because it will not accept the username and password (I recorded these during initial setup), so some advice on how to recover those would be appreciated. The mesh appears to be working but I get 350 Mbps at the router and 75Mbps at the node, is this normal as there seems to be a big difference? Thanks in advance for any advice provided.

Welcome to the forums @Nipper.

Have you tried rebooting the (entire) network and then checking if you can log in then?

I would not recommend using any 'app' to manage your router (distrust issues).

Use a PC or Mac and a solid browser (I use Edge) to connect and manage your router/network instead.

It is normal to have lower throughput at a mesh "leaf" node (any node connected to the root node via Wi-Fi). The "root" node is the one with the Ethernet connection to your ISP router/gateway.

This can be due to node placement too far away from root. The best starting spot is midway between the farthest area you want to cover and the root. But you may need to experiment with placement due to home construction and other potential RF obstacles.

Thanks for that. I was using the app that Asus provide/recommend for the router, I couldn't see any PC based options for managing the router and node in the same way as the app.

That's useful to know, I will try shifting the node around to see if there is a change to both the throughput and the front camera performance. Thanks for the advice.
