What is confusing you in the research that you have done?

Why do you think that the WNDR3700 is so great?

All properly-designed draft 11n routers drop to 11g rates when using WEP or WPA TKIP.
Can you please explain this statement?
"All properly-designed draft 11n routers drop to 11g rates when using WEP or WPA TKIP"

I'm a newbie.

The behavior is per the 802.11n spec. If WEP or WPA-TKIP are used, routers must not use any of the HT (High Throughput) modes. This limits them to a maximum 54 Mbps link rate, same as 802.11g.

Another newbie here, I will be buying a WNDR3700 in the near future, what security can be enabled that doesn’t slow the throughput down?

WPA2 is recommended.
