strange LAN Problem with connectors

Good morning guys,Luke from Milano here.

I'm new to the forum and I really hope someone could help with a strange problem:

I have a network cable connecting my netgear wndr 3700 router, running from the router to my home theater, in the living room.

If I connect at the end of the cable my laptop, no problem, internet running at full steam and hd videos playing without a single hiccup.

If I connect one of my mediaplayer (Netgear eva 9100 and WD TV live Hub) BOTH the machines are not even able to detect the connection.

The message is "no cable connected"

What am I missing?

Are you seeing a green indicator light on the net port on the WD Live?

Are you using DHCP on the 3700?

More info would help, can you do an ipconfig from the laptop that connects to the 3700, and provide those details?
