switch layer 2 managed

New Around Here
Hello,
I'm looking for a 5 or 8-port managed layer 2 switch for a home Gigabit network.
I would need VLAN (and preferably also PoE) support.
My dilemma will be highest Data throughput vs price.
Should I consider the Mikrotik RB250GS? Haven't seen any review for it here at SNB.
What are my options?
Cheers

There are no significant performance differences in unmanaged switches. Buy on the basis of price, vendor preference and warranty.

Err, i asked for a managed switch.
And i asked if the Mikrotik RB250G, which is a 5 port layer2 managed switch who supports vlans and PoE has a good throughput.
You said that unmanaged can all handle what i need them to do.
So maybe you missed something on my original post.
Nevertheless, great site you've got here.
Thanks for helping me.
Regards.

Sorry. But the answer also applies to low port count L2 managed switches, i.e. no performance difference. Bigger decision factors are features and management interface.

Thanks for your reply.
So, you say that all low-port-count L2 switches (whether managed or not) have similar throughput.
In that case, what throughput should I expect from a switch such as the RB250?
Sorry for being such a PITA but I really don't want to waste money on something that in the end won't please me ;).
Regards.

The throughput you get will be limited by the clients, not the switch. Most people see anywhere from 500 - 800 Mbps.
