Temporarily putting AC-RT86U out of router mode

My Asus RT-AC86U with firmware 386.14_2 has been so solid that I have not needed to make any changes for a long time save to login to take a look from time to time. I have always bridged my generic modem/router and put my Asus in router mode.
I now have a temporary need to put my modem/router in router mode and let it assign a DHCP IP address to the Asus. My entire network is behind the Asus so I cannot afford to reset it.
Is that achievable and how?

If your modem/router (in router mode) uses a different LAN IP address range to the RT-AC86U's LAN address range you don't need to make any changes.

If you have enabled any sort of remote access on the RT-AC86U you will need to forward the relevant ports on the modem/router or put the RT-AC86U in its DMZ.

Thanks, do you mean I can have my RT with own LAN IP range (10.x.x.x) sitting behind a modem/router with a different LAN IP range (192.x.x.x)?

No, just switch the ISP Gateway to Router mode. No other changes needed. The only difference will be public vs private WAN IP for your Asus. If you need to access the Asus from Internet just follow the port forwarding or DMZ advice in post #2 above.
