Just seen this https://1.1.1.1/

Is this an alternative to DNSCrypt?
If so, can it be made to work on ASUS WRT?

From their website: "By using DNS over HTTPS (DoH) you can transparently offer enhanced security to your customers while improving the speed of your devices. Even better, you can do it at no cost, both in terms of licensing and customer’s privacy. Learn more about 1.1.1.1 and our DNS over HTTPS (DoH) support in our Developer Docs. "

Cheers.

I have mixed feeling on DoH. The Cloudflare marketing material amplifies my feeling.

I hope DoH won't be widely adopted by Apps but it seems an irreversible trend..

I don’t think those mainstream browsers can just simply force user to use their DOH only.

DNSCrypt has it included already. You can choose it from the list of resolvers or if those are selected automatically based on lowest latency (it rescans but I have not checked the frequency).
Code:
Apr 1 06:06:47 dnscrypt-proxy[22125]: Server with the lowest initial latency: cloudflare (rtt: 21ms)
I'm on the USA west coast and cloudflare is usually quickest.

Here is the link to DNSCrypt -proxy 2: A flexible DNS proxy, with support for modern encrypted DNS protocols such as DNSCrypt v2 and DNS-over-HTTP/2.
