Tomato & DD-WRT compatiable?

New Around Here
Hi

I have a bought a NAS from synology. I want to be able to use WOL(wake on lan), the LAN part works fine, but not the WAN part.

I have a locked router (Thomson gateway TG789VN) from my ISP. They wont give me superuser or full control of the routerm but they can bridge it for me they say.

So here is my question(s).
If they bridge the router, do i understand it correct, that then i can attach another router to a port on the locked router, and from that new router i can connect my NAS?

My other question is whether if this router is compatiable with tomato and DD-WRT firmware D-Link DIR-615

Yes - a properly bridged modem/router/gateway will act as a pure modem, taking in the ISP's signal in whatever form it may be and outputting simple 100 or 1000 Mbps Ethernet, usually with one WAN IP. DHCP, NAT and firewall is disabled so that you can use these in your own router.

Of course some modem/router/gateway units aren't truly bridged depending on the ISP - I have heard of partial firewalls and selective port blocking still intact but there's nothing you can do about that.:(

My other question is whether if this router is compatiable with tomato and DD-WRT firmware D-Link DIR-615

I don't know specifically but the website of each firmware indicates what routers it can be installed on.
