Traffic Analyzer impact on memory/performance

Did some searching but couldn't ind any relevant info on the impact Traffic Analyzer has on router performance. Anyone have information about this? I'd like to use it only if minimal impact. I have an AC3100.

Thanks

How heavily utilized is your network? I doubt you'll see a reason to not use it if you have a use for the stats it can provide.

Just turn it on and see if you notice any slowdown in your specific network setup and usage. I would also do a reboot myself, to make sure to give this a fair test. :)

I'm also curious about any potential performance hit of enabling Traffic Analyzer Statistics. On my AC68U it does cause Flow Accelerator hardware acceleration to be disabled, but according to Merlin in this thread:

https://www.snbforums.com/threads/a...are-acceleration-on-rt-ac68-and-merlin.45128/

disabling FA has little impact on performance. For my AC86U, enabling Traffic Analyzer Statistics does not cause either of the HW accelerations to be disabled, so presumably, no effect there.

I would think that any of the multi-core routers should be AOK provided you're not also enabling things like the VPN and AiMesh (maybe OK with AiMesh but it seems that only multi-core products are designated AiMesh capable).

Even on single core products if you're not driving it hard with traffic you should be AOK.

All the above is just my SWAG!

Yeah, I agree that the CPU hit should be small. Was more concerned about the loss of FA HW acceleration on my AC68U.
