Transferring files from remote drive to local one?

As per the title.

My Asus router abroad has two usb drives attached containing data that I want to selectively copy to my local Asus router usb drive.

I would like to do this without a pc as a middleman - except of course as a command terminal.

Not being Linux skilled, could someone tell me (with example if possible) how to achieve this.

I was hoping I could achieve using the Asus built-in download master, but not successful so far.
Remote storage is set up ok and can be accessed using ftp/samba etc, but my wish is to be able to let the transfers get on with it, without intervention and without pc powered up.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
