I just read the review for this. I don't understand why it's faster than the TPL-420E2K kit. Are the internals different other than the passthrough outlet? They must be I guess.

You don't have to guess. Look at the board photos in each review. Same main board.

Looks like newer firmware in the 421.

No, TRENDnet doesn't have the firmware available for download.

Hi Tim,
Thinks for your review. I will be using this to turn my wireless repeater into an access point. Its great to see that powerline has matured enough that I can get more throughput to my garage (and my back yard) than I could over wireless.
