Truth in advertising? Belkin gigabit power line

Newegg selling a pair of these for $50.

They claim "up to" gigabit speed on the power line - Truthful?

Just like wifi advertised speeds are half-duplex. Then again, theoretical.

Please note results of the 50 meters test are swapped by accident.

They perform terrible on longer distances and don't cope that well with interference. Depending on use and environment you may be better off with '500 Mbps' equipment.

These are based on a Gigle chipset that didn't make it. Gigle was purchased by Broadcom back in 2010.
