Trying to stream through VPN from abroad

I can't seem to get streaming to work when I'm abroad, I have my Asus set up as an VPN server and use openvpn on my phone and laptop. But every time I try to stream any content from Sweden when I'm abroad, the services always seem to know that I'm in a region that's restricted.
The VPN connection connects fine, but there seems to be something that gives me away.

Do you have location service enabled on the browser?

Have you enabled "Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic" when setting up the OpenVPN server on the router? If it's not enabled, then you may not stream through the VPN, but directly using the connection from wherever you currently are.
