two asus routers one as access point

hi all.

I have an asus rt-n66u as my main router, i would like to set up my old asus rt-n16 as an access point and be able to use both the wireless and ethernet ports of the rt-n16 router.

i did have dd-wrt on my rt-n16 and used this guide to set up dd-wrt.

how can i do the same set pu running merlins build?

Hi,

I am running the configuration you are asking for (see my footer).

The way forward is simple: Install the latest Merlin firmware (even Beta is good) and configure the RT-N16 as Access Point. Done! Works great for me!

yeah i tried that but the lan ports seem to be disabled and i use them for security cameras.

Hi,

Currently I have connected the LAN cable to the WAN port, but earlier it worked also connected to the LAN port.

I have not tried to use the LAN ports for other devices, but I assume that the LAN switching would work in AP mode...

At least the WLAN to LAN switching worked in my case.
