Upgrading to a different model question

I know this may seem lame, but I have an RT-AC56U and will be upgrading to an RT-AC1900P. Since Asus routers use the same web based UI, when I install the new one, will it transfer the settings saved for the 56U? I'm assuming it will be like starting over again since the models are different but I thought it would be worth asking in case its not. Sorry if this sounds dumb.

Definetly not!

Not advised and may not even work well even if the routers are running the same firmware and are the same model.

Take screen shots of your key settings on various pages then using the pictures setup your new router. That is the price of progress.

Thanks. Will take the screen shots as suggested and before powering up the 1900P I'll delete the bookmarked log in for the 56U. The 1900P uses a newer firmware from what I've learned. And thanks for the 'definitely not' comment too. Sometimes what appears to be a dumb question, isn't.

To save the aggrevation if something goes wrong with your settings do several backups as you are adding settings so if you fat finger something and have to reset you don't have to go all the way back to step one.

You may want to try following the M&M Config guide too. ;)
