New Around Here
Hello All, I am new to this forum and hoping someone may be able to shed some light on a problem I can't figure out. I have an older Asus RT-N66r that used to tether nicely to a Samsung S5 using stock Asus firmware. It just worked perfectly right out of the box. I upgraded to a Samsung S8 and now can't get the tether to work. USB tethering lights up on the phone but no internet light on the router. I did confirm USB settings in the set-up menu to no avail. Thinking android had outgrown my old router, I decided to load the latest Merlin firmware. But... I still can't get it to work. Just for fun, I tried to run the phone tethered direct to my laptop and it works fine. I also tried tethering my S8 to one of my newer routers an Asus AC3200 and also get no internet light on the box. I have played with all the USB settings on both routers with no success. Lastly, I tried tethering my wife's Pixel, and that also did not work. Phone carrier is the same (Ting) and they allow tethering as it's a pay for use plan. What am I missing?

Hello Avalenti, if you are running Android 9.0 Pie on those two phones that gave you an issue while your S5 phone is on Android 8.0 or less then I believe we are having the same issue. I am opening up a thread that is a little more directed at the exact issue I am having, so if yours is the same then come on over.
