Using a European Homeplug set in a house following British standards

paranoised

Occasional Visitor
I got my hands on an AVM FRITZ!Powerline 1200E, however this set was designed for a European socket CEE 7/4 (Type F) whereas the plugs used here are the British Type G variety.

Using a simple travel adapter allows the device to run since voltage conversion is unnecessary, however the ground contacts are not connected and as such the MIMO capability of this device is gone to waste.

My questions are as follows: Is there a way to make this work given my situation? Is it as simple as installing and wiring up a German style power socket in place of the existing British style socket? Are there any adapters sold that would do this in a neater fashion?

If all else fails, I could always offload it to someone that can make better use of it.

This is physical, not electrical problem. Get the connections to where they need to go and you should be set.

You are right that the ground prong is needed for MIMO signalling. But more important than just this is that these devices were designed for three prong use - they will not work as a 2 prong SISO (single-in-single-out) devices! (You might be able to get some data through them but your performance will likely be terrible).

Thanks.

I just ordered some adapters that have the grounding contacts so that it could be properly physically connected.
