voip phone issue

hi all, i have a voip phone siemens gigaset c470IP connected to the asus router, i have a few times during the day that the phone looses contact with the voip server, this is really annoying when you are on the phone with someone. you are talking to someone when the sound disappeares and the phone connects again, i have tried several options to let the phone connect in other ways then by dhcp but this didn't do the trick.

can anyone tell me what the right settings in the asus router (and maybe also in the phone (settings - ports etc) have to be to get rid of this problem?

thanks for anyone that points me in the right direction :)

I would check the phone network settings. There could be a power-save feature that is causing the disconnect.

Other Things to check

To help run down what the cause might be here are a couple of other suggestions:

1. Give your VOIP a static IP and put it in the DMZ. This should eliminate that any ports that the system requires aren't blocked. If it doesn't help you can take it back out of the DMZ.

2. On a PC attached to your network start listening to a streaming radio station. Then go into your router and look at the graphical representation of the traffic on your network. You would like the line to be as steady as possible. While watching the graphical output make a call on your system and see what happens. If you see a huge spike in traffice when you get bumped off line you will need set up rules in Qos to prioritize VOIP. If you see valleys or sharp drop offs then you will need to look at your LAN, ISP or VOIP provider to try and isolate what is happening.

I run Skype, MagicJack and an AT&T MicroCell on my network and don't have any problem other than sometimes call quality is better than others. My MicroCell in in the DMZ as I got tired of arguing with AT&T about how and what ports needed to be forwarded.

Good luck!

Okay, i gave the voip base a static IP and added it to the DMZ. i will try this setting i hope this helps :)

Well... that didn't do the trick, i mostly get the message SIP registration error...

I there someone who can lead me to specific ports or port range forwarding for this voip phone?
https://www.mynetfone.com.au/media/support/downloads/siemens-c470ip/SIEMENS C470 IP - User Guide.pdf
on page 23 and 24 there are ports mentioned but i want to know how i can setup correct portforwarding in the dark night as i think that those settings maybe the solution for the problems i have.
is there someone that can lead me through this?

:o

I have a Gigaset C610A-IP connected with 3 lines connected to 3 accounts from 2 providers (home, my office, wife's office) - no land line connection at all. I've had no problems with the Asus RT-AC66U on 370 Merlin sw. I realize different router, but pretty similar sw wise.

Note there is a SIP helper setting in the Asus router that I have turned on. You may want to look into it if you haven't already.

Also, previous advice on checking network settings is spot on. Only problem I've had is when I needed to reinstall the account information in the Gigaset base. That happened about 6 mo ago, after 2 years of using the system.
