VPN won't connect while at work- but does everywhere else

I configured my RT-AC87U VPN on PPTP and I can connect from my family member's homes, but I can't connect from my work place. A co-worker suggested changing the port that the VPN is on, but I can't seem to figure out how to do that. I also enabled the asuscomm.com function and that still didn't work. I know they use Lightspeed filters.

Anyone have an idea how my work IT people are stopping me from connecting to my vpn and how to get around it? Thanks!

Ask your sysadmin to open TCP port 1723 on the corporate firewall so you can login to your home router.

The other option, as your co-worker suggested, is to configure OpenVPN Server on your home router. Use TCP port 443, a.k.a "stealth mode"

Sysadmin won't open ports- they want strict control. I tried the OpenVPN Server method, and I kept getting a connection time out. I get just enough of a cell signal to tether my iphone to my personal laptop and both the PPTP and OpenVPN works- clearly my work network is blocking ports and VPN from working- I could use my cell phone, but its very slow and I don't want to use all my data- Thanks for the help though. Do you know what ports are commonly left open? maybe I could use that port for OpenVPN instead of 443? Is it possible to change the Asus Router's PPTP VPN port number ? Thanks again!
