WAN port as LAN port in router mode

guho

Regular Contributor
While I use my RT-AC3200 running the latest Merlin as an access point, it is running in router mode. The reason is that I want to use the embedded OpenVPN server and use guest network correctly (it did not work as expected in access point mode). These two items are all working fine now.

My question is: in access point mode the WAN port is bridged to the LAN as a 5th Ethernet port to use. What commands can I put in which jffs script or config in order to bridge the WAN port to the LAN while in Router mode? Currently my main Internet gateway router is connected to one of the AC3200's LAN ports while WAN port is unused. I use my main router's DHCP and everything (wired and wireless) is on one subnet (no natting etc.).

Does it require nvram commands or a brctl command to accomplish linking eth0 to the LAN?

Thanks!
