Hi everyone, long-time Merlin user here, and I've been wondering about this for forever but finally decided to do some research and after coming up short there, ask the experts here.

Basically, I'd like to know what the preferred method of accessing the webui is from inside the LAN? I have https enabled using port 8443, but every time I log in I have to click "proceed anyway" and I'm just what the easiest and safest method to add a certificate is? Because enabling webui access from WAN is certainly not happening :)

Or can I disable https access since the only way to get in is via VPN? Just wondering how Merlin and the rest have handled this.

Thanks in advance!

If you know how to create and trust a self-signed certificate it's pretty easy. You just go to WAN -> DDNS (even though you're only using it locally, that's just where the setting is located). Go to HTTPS/SSL Certificate, select Import/Persistent Auto-generated and click Upload.

Then just go to Administration -> System and make sure you're set up for HTTPS access.

No reason to use https for it unless you are giving lan access to machines you don’t trust. And probably not even then
