Weird 2.4 Ghz problems

ewood

New Around Here
I'm having weird problems with my 2.4 Ghz network after upgrading replacing stock firmware with Merlin 378.55 on my Asus RT-AC68P. If I go to the wireless general and professional page, the only option in the dropdown is 5Ghz. If I try to select a channel the dropdown options start at 36. If I hover over the little SSID indicator at the top of the administration page, it says 2.4 Ghz is on channel 36 and 5 Ghz is on channel 0. If I disable my Mac Filter and go to site survey it says the 5ghz radio is disabled, but it only shows me 5ghz networks. On my Mac wireless diagnostic utility, it says my Mac is connected to a 5Ghz network with the same SSID as my 2.4 Ghz network (even though my 5Ghz SSID has is different than the 2.4 Ghz SSID). My daughters Windows 8 laptop can't see our network at all, I suspect because it is on channel 36, but I can't find a way to change it to a lower channel. At one point I did see normal 2.4 GHz channels in the dropdown, but now I can only get 36 and above (36, 40, 44, 48, 149, 153, 157, 161, 165). I tried changing my bandwidth to 20 MHz and it did not help. Interestingly, if I click on the 2.4 Ghz SSID link at the top, it takes me to a wireless general page that has different settings, including SSID then the 5Ghz link does, so there does appear to be both settings; they just can't be accessed via the band dropdown. then the Has anyone seen this behavior? Does anyone know how to set the 2.4 Ghz channel through SSH if the webapp is not working?

Corrupted nvram content. Do a forum search for the list of commands to fix it (no, I don't remember them from memory), or do a factory default reset and manually reconfigure.

Something is wrong w/ your 68P. I, too, have a 68P. Your router should not be showing that your 2.4 Ghz radio is on channel 36. That is a 5 Ghz channel. 2.4 Ghz offers channels 1 through 11 only. Perhaps while your router was updating its FW, a few steps/codes or what not, didn't get installed correctly. I would suggest erasing the 378.55 FW and then re-download it from Merlin's site to your computer. Reset your 68P router to factory default setting and then re-flash the new 378.55 FW from your computer to it. Hopefully that works.
