What Router Testing Would You Recommend?

I installed DD-WRT on a Linksys router and need to install some special services. I'd like first to test the router to make sure performance is not adversely affected.

I've heard about iPerf and netPipe for traffic generation but not sure they're free. What tests would you recommend?
