Which of these AX ASUS routers should I get to replace my current ISP router?

New Around Here
Hello,

I am looking at replacing my UK Plusnet Hub2 router with ideally an ASUS router as these from what I've researched have the biggest feature set without having to pay for any additional subscriptions for using some of these features.

I have narrowed my list down to the following:
  • ASUS RT-AX58U V2 / RT-AX3000 (AX58U V1)
  • ASUS TUF-AX3000 V2
  • ASUS RT-AX82U AX5400
  • RT-AX5400
My current setup includes an FTTP 500 line directly into my home which terminates at my ONT.
I am running a small 8 port gigabit switch off the back of my router as well as running a Cat7 cable up to my home office breaking out into another small switch which serves a Mac mini, MacBook Air and work laptop whilst docked.
I also run a QNAP NAS off of the first switch.

With these being the main hard-wired devices in my setup, I also have a plethora of smart home devices connected - probably about 20 in total.

I can run the AX58U V1 using Merlin official F/W and the V2 using the gnuton Merlin F/W.
The other three I can also use with gnuton Merlin F/W.

Any other suggestions welcome!

I am trying to keep my budget below £100 / $130 - whilst this may not feasible new, I can certainly buy these used or refurbished on eBay.

Thanks!

RT-AX86U Pro. Spend a few extra bucks or Pounds and be happy. The price has come down and a refurbished unit may be available.

  • ASUS TUF-AX3000 V2
  • ASUS RT-AX82U AX5400
  • RT-AX5400

All of the above are basically the same router with different marketing, looks and features locked/unlocked.
