New Around Here
...for a networked media box which requires an adapter with a realtek RTL8188SU chipset:

the options come down to a few omni directionals ranging from 6dbi to 2dbi and a 10dbi panel antenna.

i have a single story house and the signal needs to reach about 50-70 feet away, so the higher dbi omnis ought to be more optimal (right?).

i was all set to purchase the 6dbi omni leguang but then it occured to me that perhaps software and driver support might become an issue as i've never heard of the brand ... the next best option is a 5dbi omni airlink, which has more detailed specs (i think) and is more common but has 1 less dbi.

i defer to the experts. what do y'all think?

on the by and by, i'm also shopping for a new dual channel adapter for a pc with the same distance requirements. how do these look?

I know that Amped Wireless uses Realtek chipsets in some devices so you may want to look into that as well.

These are high powered USB adapters!

The UA600 has this Realtek RTL8191SU chipset Source: 1

The UA150C uses Realtek RTL8188SU chipset Source: 1
