I was just reading https://www.snbforums.com/threads/ac68u-all-region-channels-max-tx-power-how-to.19262/ about output power on the ASUS routers since I'm still experimenting with how to get decent 5 Ghz coverage.

I know that the rules differ by country (regulatory domain) and band/subband, and could be say 100 mw on 2.4 in the UK, more on 5 Ghz

The RT-AC3200 is set to
0:maxp5ga0=94,94,90,90
0:maxp5ga1=94,94,90,90
0:maxp5ga2=94,94,90,90
1:maxp2ga0=102
1:maxp2ga1=102
1:maxp2ga2=102
2:maxp5ga0=90,90,106,106
2:maxp5ga1=90,90,106,106
2:maxp5ga2=90,90,106,106

How does this differ with these other models? Without getting into CFE editing are any of them more flexible/have stronger signals? I'm assuming not but worth asking ...

I See reference to 114 being the max on the 68u, but probably with earlier firmware?
I'm unclear on the syntax here too - I get the p5/p2 band, but not why there are 4 numbers (channels? But there are more?)

If you have another router from this series, what do you get currently?

Am I right in thinking these are current max values - if so they are quite low?
nigel@RT-AC3200-AD90:/tmp/home/root# wl txpwr_target_max
Maximum Tx Power Target (chanspec:0xe02a): 14.50 14.50 14.50
though looking at other commands:
nigel@RT-AC3200-AD90:/tmp/home/root# wl txpwrlimit
200 mW (23.0 dBm)

But perhaps that is a radio driver max, rather than fw?

with more recent firmware - tx power is based on the RTOS inside the chip itself...

From linux, one can ask, but once one hits a limit, the chip says yes, but continues on...

this is documented in Broadcom's STA driver.

Thanks for the clarification.

Are the figures I mentioned typical of all Asus routers? As setup for uk?
