I tested some wireless settings and they all buggy in 2G and 5G!
2G n only would be exactly what is described for legacy while 2G legacy should be named b/g!
Said that I completely missing the usefull 2G g/n mixed mode without problematic b (22MHz-DSSS)

2G wireless mode
auto: b/g/n -> correct
legacy: b/g -> NOT correct as n (54Mbps) missing!
n only: b/g/n -> NOT correct as opening b/g too!

5G wireless mode
auto: a/n/ac -> correct
legacy: a -> NOT correct as n (54Mbps) missing!
n only: a/n -> NOT correct as opening a too!
n/ac mixed: a/n/ac -> NOT correct as opening a too!

Even more paranoid there is are same settings but different 5G help popup for 86U(middle N/AC missing) and 68U(right).

Tested n/ac with WiFi card set to 802.11a only and could connect on 68U and 86U!
I set all those modes and compared them with shown modes in Acrylic Wifi.

Sorry, but what is Asus doing here for years now?
Others can easily manage these settings correct.
Its really no high tech engineering to manage this!

This is an interesting find. Gonna take a closer look at my 3100 and see if similar issue.

Nobody else who is looking into this issue, that meaninglessly for all of you?
For me these are really basic features and even they are broken on asus mainstream routers.
Dont want to know whatelse is not working as supposed to.

did you open a service request with ASUS?

They never gave any feedback but standard prepared answers!
Could be its different in US, but at my location in EU forget it.
Sold all Asus for a reliable AVM-mesh.

latest fw has more bugs in both bands.
2,4GHz bands not accessable in node (68u) after some days (node is connected to main router by 5GHz and this bands work ok), can't access to some devices in wired network from 5GHz bands, time scheduler for wifi not work correct, email notifications not work after router restarts....and more.
:(

This is very curious and I’m surprised at the lack of discussion.

Old thread, did you ever test on latest fw to see if problems remain?
